Revelation 21:10-15 NIV
And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls.

The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Revelation 3:14-22 NIV
“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Spits out those whose deeds are Lukewarm
- quite scared whenever this term is used because i guess i agree to a certain extent that i am lukewarm Christian
- trying to mend my ways e.g. More tawg to deepen my relationship with him, speak more about him with friends family and colleagues,
- but Im personally not v sure why i don’t feel the passion and excitement that i feel i should have
Wealth on earth does not relate to anything that god considers richness in heaven
- reminder for me not to store up treasures on earth because my final judge does not care about it
Another way to look at is that
- it is not sufficient to just obtain salvation and be happy that i am a Christian (lukewarm)
- he wants us to read more on the word of god, to strengthen our spirit so we can answer others when challenged, to be rich, to cover ny shamefulness and so we can see!
- this knowledge to strengthen our spirit and deepen our relationship will in turn change us and cause us to do deeds that pleases him
Even though i don’t think I’ve been a v good devoted Christian ever since ive gotten saved, but god is still good – he does not give up on me. He is still rebuking and disciplining me e.g. Through the reading of this verse
- his offer for me to accept him totally still stands, we just have to be earnest and repent
And of course, the reward is the right to sit with Jesus on his throne
